Human serum angiotensinase and vasopressin-degrading activities from childhood to elderly

چکیده
The increase of blood pressure with development and ageing has been extensively reported. The aim of this study is to analyse the changes in the angiotensinase and vasopressin-degrading activities in men and women in various age groups. Aminopeptidase N ( A P N ) , a m i n o p e p t i d a s e B ( A P B ) a n d vasopressin-degrading activity (AVP-DA) were measured fluorometrically using arylamide derivatives as substrates. All the activities decreased during ageing. The correlation between aminopeptidase activities and age in males and females demonstrated only a highly significant inverse correlation for APB in females. These results could indicate the maintenance or the increase in Ang III and vasopressin in plasma, which may contribute to the increase in blood pressure observed during ageing.

Extraction, purification, and assay of human renin free of angiotensinase.
Three procedures are described for the extraction and purification of renin from 0.05 to 500 g of human kidneys. A uniform yield of renin, free of angiotensinase, resulted from all three procedures. All tests for renin were carried out in dogs. When more than 10 g of renal tissue was used, renin was determined by the direct method; with smaller amounts, the indirect method, involving the produc...

The rate of formation of angiotensin was investigated for the reaction of angiotensinase-free human renin, at various states of purity, with angiotensinogen, in pooled, angiotensinase-free human serum. The velocity constant of this reaction and the Michaelis constant of the rerun-substrate complex were determined. The concentration of angiotensinogen and of endogenous renin in human serum was a...

Although many proteases exist in human placenta, their physiological roles are still largely unknown. Our studies showed that these placental proteases metabolize vasoactive and immunomodulating peptides, possibly derived from the fetus, and control the exchange of peptide hormones across the placenta in order to maintain feto-placental homeostasis. We clarified the pregnancy serum oxytocinase ...
متن کاملAminopeptidase activities after water deprivation in male and female rats.
Aminopeptidases (APs) play a major role in the metabolism of circulating and local peptides, such as angiotensins and vasopressin, substances involved in the control of blood pressure and water balance. In the present work, we studied the influence of dehydration on angiotensinases and vasopressin-degrading activity. Since sex differences may exist in the regulation of water balance by angioten...
